Pesola Special Model Spring Scale - MFT Scale 3000g

The MFT Scale is a precise, easy-to-use spring balance specifically developed for myofunctional therapy (MFT). Designed in collaboration with and tested by speech and language therapists, it provides a reliable way to measure and monitor lip muscle resistance during therapy.

Featuring a specially designed eye-hook suspension that securely holds the thread, the scale includes a shock absorber and drag pointer for recording maximum resistance. An additional drag pointer is supplied as a spare.

The durable, anodised aluminium tube features a long, high-resolution scale for precise readings. The scale also includes tare and zero adjustment, plus a swivelable, rotatable and removable suspension bow guided in a ring for comfortable handling.

Battery-free and always ready for use, the MFT Scale combines practical design with time-tested Swiss quality.

How to Use

1. Attach a 10 cm loop of thread (20 cm total length) to a button.
2. With the curved side of the button facing the scale, securely attach the thread loop to the eye-hook at the base of the scale.
3. Hold the scale horizontally and adjust the zero position using the tare screw.
4. Move the white drag pointer back towards zero.
5. Place the button in front of the patient’s teeth and ask them to close their lips around it.
6. Shortly before measurement, instruct the patient to close their lips as tightly as possible.
7. Holding the suspension bow, steadily pull the scale away from the patient’s mouth until the button releases. Maintain a consistent pulling speed for each measurement.
8. Read and record the maximum resistance indicated by the white drag pointer.
9. Repeat the measurement three times and calculate the average. Measurements can then be repeated periodically to monitor muscular training progress.

Cleaning & Sterilisation

• For regular cleaning, wipe the scale with a moist paper towel. Avoid chemical cleaning agents.
• For sterilisation of Pesola spring scales treat with acetylene for 15 hours.
